What's the similarities between Ambareesh and Divya Spandana aka Ramya, apart from their Sandalwood credentials? Both belong to Congress, elected from Mandya constituency (apart from Ambareesh's brief stint at Ramanagar), hail from the dominant Vokkaliga community and both seldom visited their constituency. If that's not enough, both are now vying with each other to contest again from Mandya in the upcoming Assembly election.

If reports to be believed all is not well between Ambareesh and Ramya, who both once stood for each other. It is reported that Ramya setting her eyes on Mandya, is planning to shift her base and has purchased a house in Vidyanagar. However, later the house owner reportedly clarified that Ramya has only rented the house. Besides, quoting a source Bangalore Mirror reported that she will start campaigning for the upcoming election.

This gains a lot of significance in the wake of reports that former minister and Mandya MLA Ambareesh reportedly making frequent visits to the constituency. It is reported that Ambareesh has already begun the district tour.

In fact, Ambareesh was Ramya's political mentor when she debuted to the politics. However, in the later days they drew apart thanks to the infighting between the two camps belonging to SM Krishna and Ambareesh - both belong to Mandya and from Vokkaliga community that she alleged that was the reason for her defeat in Lok Sabha elections in 2014. In 2013, Ramya had won from Mandya in the by-polls to Lok Sabha.

It was quite evident when Ambareesh openly commented on the way Ramya responded to the people of Mandya. It may be recalled here that Ambareesh had commented on Ramya that "Twitter, Facebook or other social media platforms won't work in Mandya." He had stated that she needs to go and meet the people. But Ramya had famously retorted to it reportedly by tweeting "The future belongs to technology. If you're not in it you will be left out. I don't want my people to be left out."

While Ambareesh is accused of using his star image to win the elections and doing a vanishing act later, even Ramya is not devoid of these allegations. Now, that both are keen to come back and try their luck again, it is to be seen whether the people of Mandya will see beyond their star image in the next Assembly elections.
