'Nityotsava' poet 'Nadoja' Nissar Ahmed will inaugurate this year's Mysuru Dasara. PWD Minister HC Mahadevappa told mediapersons in Mysuru that the government will extend an official invitation to him.

Prof KS Nissar Ahmed, was born on Feb 5, 1936 in Devanahalli to Sheik Hyder and Hameeda Begum. He studied Geology but his knowledge of Kannada is astounding. Although, a staunch Muslim, Ahmed is well-versed in Hindu and Christian religious texts as well. He can talk about any aspect of any religion with authority. An extraordinary poet, who brought in wit and humour of daily into his poetry, Nissar Ahmed is always a crowd-puller at poets’ meets. His 'Nityotsava' is a tribute to Karnataka that will always be evergreen.
He has been honoured with Soviet Land Nehru Award, Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award, Rajyotsava Award, Aryabhata Sahitya Award, Karnataka Nataka Academy award, Nadoja and Padmasri. He was also the Sahitya Academy president, reports Kannada Prabha.
