Petrol Bunk Scam Reality Check by Suvarna Cover Story

Even as petrol and diesel prices are skyrocketing, the bunks are involved in scams to cheat the consumers. A huge scam was exposed by Suvarna Cover Story team by going for Reality Check at various bunks in the City, reported Suvarna News.

The Cover Story team first did a Reality Check at the Mahadevayya and Co petrol bunk at Doddaballapura.  Each time, the quantity dispensed differed. When the petrol was measured in a measure purchased after getting permission from the Legal Measurement Department it was found that there was a shortage of 50 ml.  When the team filled the petrol in the measure at the bunk there was a difference.  When the team got into a heated debate with the bunk staff they offered to measure it. Just then there was a power cut. Again when checked more petrol was dispensed for 5 litres.

At SLV Filling Station at Kannamangala, Doddaballapura, the team filled 5 litres of petrol in which 100 ml was short. For each 5 litres if 100 ml is dispensed less, the loss to the consumer is Rs 6.83.

At Nelamangala Maruthi Kisan Petrol Bunk, the staff themselves sad for 5 litres half a litre will be less. When the team asked the staff to measure they point blank refused to measure it.  A big argument ensued and finally when they measured it was less than 5 litres.

At the Bengaluru City, the Indian Oil Petrol Bunk at Mysore Bank the staff not only dispensed less petrol per litre but were absolutely rude and arrogant with customers.

At Banashankari Petrol Bunk, the staff said they only had half a litre measure and that they did not have 5 litre measure. Finally, when the team measured there was huge shortage in the petrol dispensed. At Double Road Bharath Petrol bunk the staff refused to measure the petrol. Finally when the camera was brought out they agreed to measure but each gun was dispensing different volume of petrol.

Several petrol bunks had two different measures to cheat the consumers. Especially in Bombu Bazar petrol bunk.

There were very few petrol bunks that dispensed exact volume of petrol.
