Rain fury: United Bengaluru forum takes stock of damage in Koramangala

MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar inspects rain hit areas

MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar and members of United Bengaluru visited the waterlogged Koramangala, ST Bed Layout and inspected the damage caused by the rain. They spoke to the residents and obtained first hand information about the problems faced by them. Sharing their woes and anguish, the residents complained the lack of willingness on the part of local representatives in providing better amenities to them.

The Parliamentarian then visited the a storm water drain that was overflowing.  Later, speaking to the mediapersons, he said that the state government had claimed that it had implemented 408 projects with a total budget of Rs 900 crore but in reality it proved otherwise. The BBMP officials were are responsible for the failure, the forum observed. Most importantly this was the result of political failure of the State government, he said, reports Kannada Prabha.

Namma Bengaluru Foundation CEO Sridhar Pabbisetty, United Bengaluru coordinator NR Suresh and vice-president of Bengaluru Apartments Federation Muralidhara Rao were present during inspection. Muralidhar Rao said several civil works taken up in the City were not planned properly. The locals were kept out of the projects by the interference of politicians. Even ward committee memberships were not given to the locals. It is very important to consider the local opinion while planning, he observed.
