A German company has been invited to study the feasibility of installing a high-speed rail route on Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru. The consortium of companies DB & C, Ingenieurburo Vossing and Intraplan will jointly carry out the study. German government will bear the expenses of the study, expected to be a year long. A pre-feasibility study has already been conducted in 2016.
The Railway Ministry has invited a consortium of 3 companies from Germany to look into the feasibility of installing a high speed train in the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru route. The consortium of companies DB & C, Ingenieurburo Vossing and Intraplan will jointly carry out the study. In fact a pre-feasibility study has already been completed in 2016, reported Kannada Prabha.
The study will take a year’s time and the cost of the study will be borne by German government. India and Germany had signed a declaration of intent in 2015 for joint ventures and the High Speed train was one of the several projects envisaged. The project at that time seemed not possible due to large scale land acquirement needed to lay straight tracks, evading majors curves, depths and heights. Hence the railway officials had rejected the idea. This time workshops have been planned by the consortium officials, for railway zonal officials to discuss and understand the requirements.
The 450 km long distance between Chennai -Bengaluru -Mysuru can be covered in an hour and half by the 300kmph trains.
