HDK Revanna differences show up in H D Deve Gowda family

The subtle unseen differences that were boiling in the family of JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda are finally out in the open. Both Deve Gowda’s son Revanna and grandson Prajwal have gone vocal with their dissatisfaction. This may embarrass Deve Gowda who had always maintained that only two members of the family would contest the elections, reports Kannada Prabha.

Deve Gowda's daughter-in-law and JD(S) State President HD Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha Kumaraswamy had announced her candidature from Channapatna. Immediately, Prajwal Revanna expressed his dissent out in the open, sending shock wave in the Party. Both Anitha Kumaraswamy and Prajwal are strong contenders for the ticket. Even Revanna’s wife Bhavani wanted to be in the fray. However, her victory in the Zilla Panchayat elections has given her a foothold and it was decided between Bhavani and Prajwal only Prajwal would contest.

Deve Gowda had foreseen complications and had stated that only Kumaraswamy and Revanna should contest. Despite his statement, Anitha Kumaraswamy went ahead with preparations at Channapatna, it is reported. She was also conducting meetings with party seniors and workers. This was also a bone of contention for Revanna who had even brought it up with Deve Gowda and had questioned why the instructions applied only to him, it is reported.

Amidst all this, Prajwal was preparing the ground at Hunsur for his political debut. However, former minister H Vishwanath, who left the Congress to join JD(S) has reportedly upset Prajwal's plans. As JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy had promised a ticket for Vishwanath from Hunsur constituency. Both these facts have caused a lot of heartburn to Prajwal who made no efforts to hide his dissent at the meeting at Hunasur on Wednesday. Now, it is left to see if Anitha Kumaraswamy will move aside and make way for Prajwal or Prajwal will be persuaded to opt a different constituency.

Meanwhile, the party is preparing for the poll in full throttle. It has been decided to organise monthly conventions at divisional level. Serious discussions are being held regarding appointing office-bearers to state-level unit. Along with debating about the issues of the State and agitations held, the party’s working measures are also debated, said H D Kumaraswamy, reports Kannada Prabha.

Former minister H Vishwanath, who joined JD(S) recently, will be given the total responsibility of coordinating the backward voters. He seems to be a good candidate to counter Siddaramaiah's Ahinda votes, now. It has also been decided to organise a mammoth Dalit rally at Mysuru to counter Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
