The KSRTC has decided to provide fly bus services to 6 cities outside the State to facilitate passengers landing at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru to travel to their destinations. The cities are Salem, Coimbatore, Ooty in Tamil Nadu, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and Calicut in Kerala. This is in response to demand from commuters, said KSRTC MD S R Umashankar, reported Kannada Prabha.

The passengers who land at the KIA who wished to travel to their destinations by bus had to go to either Shanthi Nagar bus depot or Majestic Kempegowda bus stand. For that they had to depend on BMTC buses or hire private vehicles.  To prevent these hassles passengers had expressed that directly bus would make it easy for them. Responding to this KSRTC has planned to provide fly bus services to 6 cities. This will also be revenue generating for KSRTC, he said.

Fly bus services are already available for Kundapur and Mysuru from KIA.  Both routes are popular with commuters. The fly bus from KIA to Kundapur charges Rs 1100 against the normal Rs 334 and to Mysuru it is Rs 795 against the normal Rs 125 from Majestic bus stand. There is one fly bus service to Kundapur daily and 6 buses to Mysuru.
