Bus catches fire due to short circuit alert driver averts tragedy

A BMTC bus travelling from Vijayanagar bus stand to Malleswaram caught fire due to short circuit causing tension. The alert driver immediately stopped the bus and put out the fire and helped passengers to alight averting a major danger, reports Kannada Prabha.

Bus with registration number KA 57 F 31 belonging to Yeshwanthpur depot was travelling towards Malleswaram 18th cross at 10 am when the engine caught fire at Devaiaiah Park Bridge. The driver noticed the smoke and stopped the bus, put out the fire and helped over 20 passengers to get down to safety.

It is reported that the bus was old and had been developing snags, frequently. At least, this should force the authorities take such old buses off road.
