BMTC incurs daily Rs 5 lakh loss for providing Metro feeder service

The Delhi Metro provides its own feeder service but Namma Metro is depending on BMTC.  For the Purple Line, from October 2016 to March 2017 total of 14,71,983 km of feeder service was provided by BMTC. At Rs 39.43 per km, the cost per km is Rs 54.24.  The total loss incurred on this line is Rs 2.18 crores.

For the recently inaugurated Green Line a total of 33,167 km feeder service is provided across North-South and East-West routes.  Estimating on the basis of previous year’s profit and loss,  there is a loss of Rs 15 per km and Rs 4,97,505 per day. Hence the annual loss estimated is Rs 18.16 crores, Dr Kaur  says in the letter.

BMRCL must reimburse our loss, and a quarterly profit and loss accounting would be necessary.  BMRCL collaboration in this regard is expected writes Dr Kaur.
