Bengaluru techie enters Kempe International Airport with fake tickets

The security at the Bengaluru International Airport is being questioned after a city-based techie entered the airport to see off his wife and four-month baby with a fake travel ticket.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) arrested the man only while he was trying to exit the airport. He is said to have entered the airport to help his wife with the luggage as she was finding it difficult to manage as she also had her four-month baby with her.

According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, Amit Kumar - a software engineer, entered the KIA with a fake ticket on June 30. Amit, who hails from Kolkata, photoshopped an old ticket to gain entry into the airport. He had edited the date and time on ticket and was able to gain entry into the airport.

Amit, who was later detained by the CISF at the exit during the interrogation told the CISF personnel that he had no ulterior motive but only wanted to help his by carrying her luggage as she was finding it difficult with a four-month-old baby in hand. His wife was travelling to Kolkata.

He now been booked by the Bengaluru International Airport police under IPC 420 (Cheating), 465 (Forgery) and 471 (Forgign a genuine document) and sent him to judicial custody.

The June 30 incident at the Bengaluru airport can be ruled as a minor incident, however, it has exposed a flaw in the security, which could easily be exploited by anyone with ulterior motives.

The security agencies back in March had issued an alert that vulnerable public installations such as the airports are top on the list of targets for terrorists. Soon after this talks also were being held with CISF, the agency responsible for manning security at all airports in India, to chalk out a comprehensive defence plan to shield the airports against all such threats.
