Action to be initiated against schools that do not adhere to RTE rules: Sait

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanvir sait has said that it has come to his notice that some schools are refusing to admit students allotted seats under RTE and stringent action would be taken against them. Speaking to media persons, the Minister said that the school run by Minister DK Shivakumar has not denied seats to any student under RTE but has clarified that eligible students have not applied.

The Minister also clarified that GST will not adversely affect the educational institutions and text books. But it would make an impact on the treasury, he said, reports Kannada Prabha. It has been proposed since way back in 1998 to introduce English from first standard. Now, 5,400 teachers are trained to teach English. From current year English will be taught from first standard, he confirmed.

Answering a query, the Minister welcomed the Iftar get together organised by Pejavara Swami. It is a good development to respect other religions, it is not correct to politicise Pejawara Swami’s acts, he said.
