Guarantee Schemes Will Continue, Says H.M. Revanna

H.M. Revanna, State President of the Guarantee Scheme Committee, has assured beneficiaries that Karnataka's guarantee schemes will not be discontinued under any circumstances. He said the welfare programs are currently under review and will continue to benefit all eligible citizens.

Speaking to reporters at the Guarantee Scheme Committee office, Revanna said the primary objective of the schemes is to empower women financially and ensure that government benefits reach every deserving individual. "The goal is to make women economically stronger and ensure benefits reach the last person in society," he said.

Revanna explained that the government decided to review the schemes following a state-level meeting held in December last year. During the review, it was found that nearly ₹79,000 crore remained in banks and had not reached beneficiaries' accounts, prompting the government to reassess the implementation process.

Taking a swipe at the BJP, Revanna said the party had initially criticized Karnataka's guarantee schemes but later introduced similar welfare initiatives in states where it sought electoral gains. "The BJP mocked our guarantee schemes, yet announced similar programs in several states. Does that mean those states will go bankrupt?" he asked.

He further stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already earmarked sufficient funds for the schemes. "Neither the government nor the state has gone bankrupt because of these guarantees. On the contrary, they have strengthened the poor, the needy, and economically weaker sections," Revanna said.

Funds to Be Released Soon

Revanna assured beneficiaries that payments under key schemes such as Gruhalakshmi and Gruha Jyothi would be credited soon after the review process is completed.

"The Chief Minister is committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive funds under Gruhalakshmi and Gruha Jyothi. The money will be deposited into their accounts shortly after the review is finalized," he said.

Responding to criticism from the opposition regarding the relevance of the committee, Revanna defended its role, saying the committee was instrumental in creating and implementing the guarantee programs. He added that nearly 4,000 committees are functioning across Karnataka in coordination with officials from five government departments.

Revanna also revealed that the government is developing a new mobile application to simplify the registration process and improve access to the schemes for beneficiaries.
