FC Goa was held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by NorthEast United FC in the Indian Super League 2020-21, at the Tilak Maidan in Goa, on Thursday. With this, Goa has risen to third, while NEU continues to stay in the fifth place.

It all began with Goa's Alexander Jesuraj's opening strike in the 21st minute, only to be levelled by Federico Gallego in the 41st through a penalty. In the 80th minute, an own goal off Gurjinder Kumar handed Goa the lead again. Nonetheless, it was levelled by Gallego likewise in the 83rd, through another penalty.

Following the game, Goa boss, Juan Ferrando, was unhappy with his boys' sloppy piece. "I am not happy with the result and our second half. I like to play laterally but difficult for Glan and Amarjit who are playing for the first time. After Princeton's injury, we needed to make the sub. Some players have problem physically. At the end, the sub was a problem with his feet. We needed to change after Princeton's injury. He was building up the game but that wasn't possible. We moved Alberto into No. 10 for attack. Difficult injury. We will see, he is with medical staff. It's important to protect my players," he said, reports Sportstar.

"Alberto was behind Machado. It's a penalty. Maybe, because our timing is not good with tackles," he added.

Meanwhile, NEU's interim manager, Khalid Jamil sounded satisfied with the result, besides admitting that his side worked hard to finish with a win. "We are happy to get a point, but we tried to get all three. It's a good sign that everyone played positively. We have another game in 2 days. Khassa has four yellows with Ashutosh, and they will miss the next game, so I thought he could help Lalengmawia defensively," he reckoned.
