Tuticorin: A two-year-old girl drowned in a tub of water at her house Threspuram village while her parents were watching on television the rescue operations being undertaken to extricate two-year-old Sujith Wilson out of the borewell in Trichy, Tamil Nadu.

The baby girl Revathi Sanjana was playing in the tub last night as her parents sat glued to the TV watching the attempts of rescuers, police said. As the parents suddenly realised the child was not around, they went looking for her and found her motionless in the tub. The child was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead.

Rescuers pulled out the decomposed and mangled body of Sujith early on Tuesday from deep inside an unused borewell, after a futile 80-hour attempt to save the child who had fallen in while playing near his house in Nadukattupatti village of Trichy district of Tamil Nadu. Two-year-old Sujith Wilson’s decomposed body was fished out of the borewell on October 29. He had fallen into it on October 25. The body was so decomposed that the family couldn’t even get a glimpse of the toddler.
