An FIR has been lodged against the Jharkhand BJP chief's son, Munna Marandi, who reportedly tied the knot with an 11-year-old girl earlier this week.
Munna Marandi’s marriage with a girl was scheduled for Tuesday, but her family backed off, when allegations of Munna being in relationship with another girl surfaced. With just two days left for the wedding, his family got him married to a girl studying in sixth standard.
This is in total contradiction to the BJP’s much acclaimed slogan ‘beti bachao, beti padhao’. While the national leaders of the BJP are proclaiming to be helpful to girls pursuing education, the Jharkhand BJP leader himself has proven to be dangerous to a minor girl.
The other minor girl who alleged that Munna 'sexually abused' her for two years after promising to marry her, filed a complaint with the police and Jharkhand Women’s Commission.
Sources from the commission say a notice in this regard will be issued to the BJP chief soon.
It is said that Chief Minister Raghubar Das chose not to attend the wedding reception on Wednesday.
However, other leaders of BJP in the state have decided to keep mum on the issue, but the opposition parties have demanded an explanation from BJP chief and its leaders.
