Imtiaz Khan Babul, a ruling Awami Leagure politician, whose son Rohan Imtiaz was one of the ISIS terrorists involved in the Dhaka' Holey Artisan Bakery attack, has apologised to India and the parents of Tarishi Jain, the 19-year-old killed in the Dhaka attack.

“An Indian girl was killed in the attack, I can only apologise to India and to her parents. I am an unfortunate father. I don't have enough words to apologise,“ Babul told an Indian news channel.

A promising student, Rohan was good in mathematics and was a Manchester United fan. However, the 19-year-old walked away from his house in December 2015, when his parents were in Kolkata (India) where his mother was admitted for a medical emergency.

“I searched everywhere for him. I filed a general diary at the police station. I asked the home minister to help, which he did and a general alert was issued. The inspector general of police spent a long time looking for him. But there was no trace of him," Babul said.

The father told the news channel that he never imagined that he had radicalised.

“I imagined many things --he had got angry with his sister and left home to take up a job somewhere, so many things. I would regularly post on his Facebook page, saying `please come back.without you I am blind.'

"Now, I have no words left," he said. He revealed that Rohan had travelled across India for holidays. His wife, he said, fainted at the news, and has had to be admitted to hospital. His daughters, one a doctor and another still in school are equally shellshocked.

“The shame, the shame,“ he said. “How will I face anyone in society ever again? Do you know the worst thing? The additional commissioner of police, Sheikh Maroof was injured in the attack. He has spent months trying to trace Rohan for me," he said.
