Railways launches first AC cargo express train, transports chocolates, noodle & more

Northern Railway has begun operating an AC freight express train. The express freight train would run from Ferozepur Division's Sanhewal to South Western Railway's Yesvantpur, with 20 second and third AC carriages. At 1:45 am on October 1, it left Sanhewal of the Ferozepur division for Yeshwantpur of the South Western Railway. According to authorities, an AC freight express train operated on Indian rails at the time.

Northern Railway General Manager Ashutosh Gangal announced that a train carrying ICF's standard air-conditioned passenger coaches had been converted into freight for the first time. There are also plans in place for the loading of 121 tonnes of material. Chocolate, raw materials, noodles, sauce, and fabric, among other things, have been put into the train. Officer Gangal further commended and lauded the efforts of all officers and workers who contributed to the smooth operation of the Parcel Express train with ICF coaches (ICF/Conventional passenger coaches).

According to sources, the railways are continuously trying to boost their earnings. The board is concentrating on train loading and timely delivery of commodities. The initiatives are assisting in improving the railways' credibility as well as income. According to PRS Legislative Research, Railways' anticipated income for 2021-22 is Rs 2,17,460 crore, a 12% increase over 2019-20.

In other news, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation will introduce a special tourist train to explore five North-Eastern states as part of the Dekho Apna Desh programme. The 14-night and 15-day trains will transport travellers to regions distant from the madding crowd and to unspoiled, undiscovered, and inconceivable locales. An IRCTC representative stated that Dekho Apna Desh AC Deluxe Tourist Train would help the passenger have a great trip of northeast discovery beyond Guwahati. According to an IRCTC official, the firm intends to run a special tourist train in the country's Northeastern state for the first time. This voyage will begin at Delhi's Safdarjung railway station.
