Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi's occasional visits to Kerala every few months is causing issues for Congress leaders in the state who are miffed about the Gandhi scion's positive endorsement of the Left-run Kerala government's handling of Coronavirus.

Sources say that Rahul's remarks are pouring cold water over their offensive against the Pinarayi Vijayan government's mismanagement of the pandemic.

During his three-day tour to his constituency earlier this week, Rahul told media persons that the state and central governments were playing a 'blame game'. He also appreciated the state's job so far.

There are people who can comment on such matters, Opposition Leader Chennithala replied to the questions over Rahul Gandhi appreciating the COVID resistance activities

On Rahul's statement that the state and central governments were blaming each other, Chennithala said: "A leader like Rahul Gandhi should not comment on local issues. We are here to comment on such issues."

The comments come at a time when the Opposition has been blaming the LDF government for its failure to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

Later, Chennithala clarified in a press release that he meant to say that Rahul Gandhi, being a senior national leader, comments mostly on national issues.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed happiness at the way a national leader like Rahul Gandhi had commented on the state government's activities.
