Is Anupriya another Smriti Irani in the making?

 

Uttar Pradesh’s Patel has filed a complaint with the police against the people who have been trolling her. The one-day- old minister says her account was hacked and she has a filed police complaint, say reports from News 18.

 

It turns out that one of Patel’s previous posts on Twitter was not exactly charitable towards the Muslim community and many were left surprised when the controversial social media commenter was chosen as a minister.

 

Patel had deleted the incendiary tweet but a copy of it still exists and social media trolls are having a good laugh at her expense.

 

Anupriya’s appointment comes as a major threat to Smriti Irani’s popularity in the party. Smriti Irani was dealt a major blow in Modi’s reshuffle as she was booted from the cabinet as HRD minister and has been demoted as the textile minister that lead to incessant social media trolls.

 

Known for her controversial remarks on social, Irani had been a delight amongst trolls, but with the actress-turned- politician out of the limelight, Anupriya looks poised to be another BJP controversy in the making.

 

Political leaders such as Prashanth Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav and common people also have reacted bitterly through their twitter posts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

However, another reason for her getting trolled is that her mother Krishna Patel, chief of Apna Dal an ally of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh had last year expelled her brash daughter (Anupriya) from the party for six years for anti-party activities.

 

 

The relationship between the mother and daughter soured during a battle for power in the party, after the death of party chief Sone Lal Patel, Anupriya’s father in 2009. The cold war between the mother and daughter has now intensified.

 

Her mother had recently even threatened to cut off ties with the BJP, if her daughter was made minister.

 

Here are some tweets, which say her work in her own Mirzapur city was not up to the mark.

 

 

 

The decision to appoint Anupriya into the ministry was taken due to her strong belief, which matched the BJP’s ideology, believe many.

 

She is also said to be an eloquent speaker, which surely will cause Smriti Irani some heart ache, seeing as that was her strongest forte.
