Delhi Police issues traffic advisory ahead of Independence Day; Read details here

Releasing the details on Twitter, the advisory stated that the traffic around Red Fort would remain closed for the general public from 4 am to 10 am, and only authorised vehicles will be allowed.

On Wednesday, the Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure safe and smooth movements of vehicles ahead of Independence Day and dress rehearsals scheduled for August 13. Releasing the details on Twitter, the advisory stated that the traffic around Red Fort would remain closed for the general public from 4 am to 10 am, and only authorised vehicles will be allowed. 

 

The advisory further said that traffic restrictions would remain the same on dress rehearsal day and Independence Day. It stated eight roads, including Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk road, Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT and Outer Ring Road to IP flyover, would remain closed on both days from 4 am to 10 am.

Further adding, alternative routes to the bus terminal, railway station, and hospitals near the venue of the Independence Day function would remain open.
The normal services would be restored after 10 am, and the buses to Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Delhi station will be diverted. 

It stated that goods vehicles would not be permitted between Nizamuddin bridge and Wazirabad bridge from midnight of August 12 to 11 am on August 13. Meanwhile, similar restrictions would be applicable for Independence Day from midnight of August 14 to 11 am on August 15. The advisory said vehicles without parking labels had been advised to avoid many routes.
