100 terrorists were eliminated in India's precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told leaders at the all-party meeting.
At least 100 terrorists were eliminated in India's precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told leaders at the all-party meeting on Thursday, according to sources.
Rajnath Singh also told the all-party meeting that India will hit back if Pakistan strikes.
Singh briefed opposition leaders about the scale and success of the coordinated military operation that targeted terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The figure marks a significant blow to terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba, who were behind the deadly Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. The minister underlined that India’s response was “measured, intelligence-driven, and proportionate” to the provocation, and added that the armed forces remain on high alert for any retaliatory action.
In a high-level all-party meeting held on Thursday, the government briefed political leaders across the spectrum on the execution and impact of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, brought together top Union ministers and key opposition leaders for the second time in two weeks amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The first such meeting was held on April 24, shortly after the attack.
The government was represented by senior ministers Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, Nirmala Sitharaman, J.P. Nadda, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. From the opposition, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress's Sandip Bandyopadhyay, DMK’s T.R. Baalu, and Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gopal Yadav were present. Other prominent attendees included AAP’s Sanjay Singh, Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP)'s Supriya Sule, BJD’s Sasmit Patra, CPI(M)’s John Brittas, JD(U)'s Sanjay Jha, LJP (Ram Vilas)'s Chirag Paswan, and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
Briefing the leaders, Rijiju said the government aimed to maintain transparency and national unity by informing all parties about the objectives and outcomes of Operation Sindoor.
According to officials, the operation involved precision missile strikes early Wednesday targeting nine locations linked to terror groups in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Among the targets were key strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.
The strikes were part of a calibrated military response to the Pahalgam massacre, signaling India’s intent to act decisively against cross-border terrorism.
