TMC MP Sisir Adhikari was removed as the chairman of the Digha Shankarpur Development Authority (DSDA). Sisir Adhikari is the father of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.
Sisir Adhikari was replaced with MLA Akhil Giri, known to be his detractor in the Trinamool Congress.
Akhil Giri said, “As the chairman, Sisir Adhikari did not do anything for the development of the district. Therefore, the party decided to remove him.”
Sisir Adhikari is at present the district president of the TMC in Purba Medinipur. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said Adhikari was not being able to perform well as the chairman.
Akhil Giri said, “I have not received any official letter or document regarding the transfer. I heard that the chairman and vice chairman have been replaced. I have not received any official documents yet.”
“Sisir Adhikari was the District President and Chairman of the Digha Shankarpur Development Authority. I heard that he has been removed from a post. However, he did not call any meeting of DSDA for a long time. As a result, a lot of work is already left. Elections are coming up. It's already too late. We will officially start work from Wednesday,” he added.
Kunal Ghosh said, “"Sisir-da is a veteran leader. Maybe he was unwell. But we were pained when he did not utter any word against his sons Suevndu and Soumendu who had been constantly attacking the TMC after switching over to the BJP."
After the news reached Sisir Adhikari, he said, “"They can do whatever they want. I am not bothered."
