Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Weather LATEST Update: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm and Lightning Alert Issued
Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Weather LATEST Update: Weather conditions across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remain unstable as an active trough and strengthening monsoon winds bring scattered rainfall, thunderstorms

Active Trough Brings Rain, Thunderstorms and Strong Winds
An active trough extending over Telangana and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh is influencing weather conditions across both states. As a result, cloudy skies are expected throughout the day, accompanied by intermittent light to moderate rainfall in several districts.

North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, including Visakhapatnam and nearby regions, could witness heavier spells of rain. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 60 kmph are also likely between June 18 and June 21. Residents have been advised to remain cautious during periods of intense weather activity, especially in open areas vulnerable to lightning strikes.
Despite the arrival of monsoon winds across much of Andhra Pradesh, weather experts note that rainfall is still falling short of typical monsoon patterns, with short-duration showers and wind-driven storms dominating the season.

Monsoon Progress Remains Uneven as Temperatures Stay High
The southwest monsoon has covered large parts of Andhra Pradesh and portions of Telangana, but its advancement across northern Telangana has been slower than expected. This delay is contributing to continued heat and humidity across several districts.
Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 37°C in Telangana and 38°C in Andhra Pradesh, while humidity levels may remain between 43 and 49 percent. Although cloud cover is increasing, the persistent influence of warm atmospheric conditions is preventing a significant drop in temperatures.
Meteorologists indicate that moisture-laden clouds from the Bay of Bengal and surrounding oceanic regions are continuing to move inland, which should gradually improve rainfall prospects during the coming days.
Farmers and Fishermen Face Challenges Amid Changing Weather Patterns
The current weather pattern is creating concerns for both farmers and fishermen. While scattered showers are occurring frequently, the rainfall remains insufficient for agricultural needs, particularly for paddy cultivation, which requires sustained and widespread precipitation.
Strong winds accompanying rain events have also raised concerns about potential crop damage. Farmers are being urged to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and lightning activity while working in fields.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until June 22 due to rough conditions over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Wind speeds over the surrounding seas remain elevated, increasing the risk for fishing vessels and coastal communities.
Looking ahead, weather experts expect periodic rainfall to continue through the end of the month as additional cloud systems move towards southern India. However, significant and widespread monsoon rainfall may still take some time to establish fully across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
