At the time Akshay was already a married man with kids and his closeness with Priyanka had grabbed headlines. According to reports, his wife Twinkle Khanna had criticised him over this alleged affair and made him swear never to work with Priyanka again.
The whole fiasco started when Akshay and Priyanka worked together in Andaaz. Their on-screen chemistry was so intense that it came to everyone's notice. Not just that, reports suggested that their romance bloomed off-screen as well.
Post Andaaz, they acted in three films together – Aitraaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Waqt. However, due to wife Twinkle's warning Akshay stopped working with Priyanka.
During an Aap Ki Adalat session with Rajat Sharma, he was asked about his alleged extramarital affair with Priyanka. He said, "There is nothing like that. I have worked on five films with Priyanka. It's not like I don't want to work with her. Except for Rani Mukerji, I have worked with every heroine. If there is an opportunity, I will surely work with Priyanka Chopra."
Akshay also said, "Let us call Priyanka Chopra and check if she has an issue with me. That way you will know for sure."
