Karnataka: Mandya farmer climbs mobile tower, threatens suicide
A farmer named Mohan climbed a mobile tower and attempted suicide in Mandya. However, the police intervened and brought him down to safety
A farmer climbed a mobile tower in Mandya district on Tuesday and threatened to commit suicide demanding waiver of his loans.
According to the police, Mohan, alleged of harassment from government officials, had forced him to take the extreme step.
He alleged that Koppa DCC and DR were responsible for his suicide attempt and they were intentionally harassing him.
Mohan also claimed that he has been running from pillar to post in hope that his loans would be waived off but all his efforts have gone in vain.
The man’s stunt led to tense moments before the police intervened and convinced him to climb down to safety.
A case has been registered with Mandya Police. Mohan was taken to the police station, where an inquiry is underway.
