Team India is off to a shaky start, losing its ICC T20 World Cup 2021's opening Super 12 clash to arch-rival Pakistan by a considerable margin of ten wickets. While India still has four more games to go, it would be somewhat under pressure, as a loss in any of the remaining four could seriously jeopardise its chances of qualifying for the semis.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricket and now-renowned commentator Sanjay Majrekar feels that India's bowling looks incomplete, as it does not possess enough wicket-taking spinners. The likes of Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja failed to make a significant impact against Pakistan, failing to claim a single wicket.

Speaking to ANI, Manjrekar said that he prefers wicket-taking spinners over the economical ones. He also feels that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal would have been an ideal choice, who was heavily impactful during the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, selectors backed Chakravarthy and Jadeja, along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Rahul Chahar.

Manjrekar feels that Ashwin's experience will come in handy, as he bowls in the right areas and backs his skillset, while he had been bowling with a lot of variations during the IPL. He also reckoned that Ashwin being wristy was the reason he fell back a few years back, as the finger spinners started to make an impact.

India plays New Zealand next on Sunday, and it would be interesting to see if the Team India management and skipper Virat Kohli decide to give Ashwin a chance. However, it must also be noted that Ashwin has not played a T20I since 2017, while the long gap in the format could lead to him being under tide pressure.
