Does Virat Kohli need a change in his batting method? Sunil Gavaskar comments
Virat Kohli's struggle in England continues, scoring just 62 runs in a couple of Tests. Meanwhile, former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar feels that the Indian skipper needs to change his batting method.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli continues to struggle with his batting in England during the continuing Pataudi Trophy 2021. Having scored just 62 runs in a couple of Tests, besides being century less for nearly two years, Kohli's dipping performance is setting the alarm bells.
Meanwhile, former Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar feels that Kohli is not playing well, and there seems to be a technical glitch with his batting that needs to be rectified. Gavaskar feels that Kohli is becoming too addicted to playing balls outside off, and that too a little early.
As per Gavaskar to Sony Sports, it has been a successful method for him. He has scored 8,000 Test runs with the back and across the movement. However, he plays deliveries that are way outside off stump and that too a little early in the innings. Recently, his foot seems to be somewhere else, while his bat is somewhere else, which means that he hasn't really been playing well.
Further talking, he said that if trying to attack the opposition, this intent can land him in trouble, which was evident. He feels that every batsman should be given the freedom to find his own batting method since this is Test cricket.
Kohli has traditionally struggled in England. In 13 Tests, he has scored 846 runs at an average of 33.84, including a couple of centuries, with his top score being 149.
