Why family court is not amused with Kannada star’s patch-up bid with wife
- The actor and his wife Priya skipped a fourth successive court hearing on January 9.
- The move appeared to be linked to Sudeep’s attempt to reconcile with his wife.
- The couple had filed for divorce in 2015.
While gossip columnists and bloggers are harbouring renewed hopes that Sandalwood star Sudeep will reconcile with his wife, the actor’s reconciliation attempts have not gone down well with the family court for a strange reason. The couple on January 9 missed a fourth successive hearing on their divorce petition.

The couple’s lawyers requested the court to postpone the hearing as Sudeep and Priya were negotiating out of court about the compensation for the settlement of the divorce case. The court postponed the next hearing to March 9.
The judge expressed his displeasure about the actor’s disregard toward the court, noting that conducting out-of-court settlements and adhering to court orders were different issues. The judge insisted that the appellants appear before the court on March 9 and get their issues settled at a counselling centre.

While it would be a welcome change and an encouragement for bickering couples to see a prominent pair reunite, ignoring a court’s orders does not set a healthy precedent. This is particularly more applicable in Sudeep’s case as he and Priya had filed for divorce in 2015.
