Post Kirik Party and Dangal, will Balakrishna and Chiru prove lucky for theatres?

Chiranjeevi's 150th film Khaidi No 150 and Balakrishna's 100th film Gautamipurta Satakarni are slated for Sankranthi release. The theatres across Bengaluru are hoping to boost their business that was severely hit due to demonetisation.

KV Chandrashekhar, former director of the Kannada Film Chamber and Commerce says, the theatres at taluk and district headquarters suffered a big blow. However, in Bengaluru City, Kirik Party and Dangal gave a decent collection as we saw theatres running to filled seats after a while. This trend was perhaps due to advance booking through online.

"Now with cash crunch situation easing little, the release of Megastar Chiranjeevi's film and Balakrishna's film are expected to offer some hope to theatre owners, especially those with a single screen." said Chandrashekhar.

Bhoopal Reddy, owner of Radhakrishna Theatre says, “All 900 seats will be booked. The online booking and advance booking through counters have witnessed positive result so far. We will be screening Chiranjeevi's Khaidi No 150 the entire day (four shows)," said Reddy.

The Telugu population which has a sizable presence in Karnataka are the potential cinema goers whenever a Telugu film is released. There are a huge number of fans for each actor and with both the big cinemas releasing during Sankranthi, there will be a tough competition.

"The exhibitor has booked all the four shows of Balakrishna's film Gautamiputra Satakarni in our theatre, we hope to do good business," said Venkatesh, Manager of Tulasi Theatre.
