She has also regularly appreciated work by her counterparts and has in particular praised performances by Telugu actress Anushka Shetty and Malayalam actress Nithya Menen.

The actress has featured in many big-budget, hero-orientated movies like Janatha Garage, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Attarintiki Daredi, Jabardasth, etc which have comparatively smaller scope for actresses but she showed her glamorous side. She was also seen in some performance-oriented roles like Eega, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Manam, etc. which she only handles with deftness and ease.

In S. S. Rajamouli's film Eega a bilingual project, she portrayed a role of a micro artist who runs an NGO and takes revenge for the murder of her lover Nani. The film featured a CGI-created housefly as the main character; Sam had to use her imagination and act accordingly.

In an interview she revealed that lots of heavy lighting was used for the shoot of the film that causes her subsequently suffered skin burns, calling the process very stressful but satisfying because the movie was a blockbuster and was also dubbed in Hindi Makkhi.

The movie won two National Film Awards (Best Feature Film in Telugu and Best Special Effects), five Filmfare Awards, and three South Indian International Movie Awards.

Last year, she did six movies in which three movies Theri, Janatha Garage and 24 got commercial success at the box-office.

The actress has no plans to quit the film industry as she has already signed films and would continue to work even after marriage.
