According to a report published in a daily, a senior BJP leader Dr S Amar Prasad Reddy, from Chennai and additional director-general, National Cyber Safety and Security Standards, has written a letter to Rajini inviting him to join BJP.

The letter read:

"“Sir, the pathetic situation of Tamil Nadu should be addressed immediately. The people of Tamil Nadu are totally disappointed and depressed after the sudden demise of Selvi J. Jayalalithaa, The Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

l personally insist you to address the expectation of Tamil People and I deliberately request you to think about the future of Tamil Nadu and the people who made you as a SuperStar.

Sir, my humble submission to you is that joining in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will strengthen our Prime Minister’s vision to make India as a Superpower and I also strongly believe that your successful administration, transparency and leadership skills with international exposure could make Tamil Nadu as No. 1 State in India.

Your repeated statement about entering into politics is “The God has to order you”. Sir, I sincerely refer that the Bhagavad Gita Slokas which has already satisfies your statement & belief,”

This is not the first time that Bharatiya Janata Party eyed the Tamil superstar. In 2004, there was news that he would join the party and support its alliance with the AIADMK. However, Rajini rejected to support the AIADMK-BJP front but did say that he would vote for the BJP. That was the first time he came out openly in support of the party.

Now, the question is will Rajinikanth respond to the call? Or will remain quite as in most of the cases.
