While climbing the stairs, the Pretty Woman actress lifted the beautiful gown and showed the world – no heels. Yes, Julia walked the red carpet barefoot and her toenails were painted black. Cannes's fashion rules strictly demanded all female celebrities wear stilettos and high heels.
According to the fashion magazine Vanity Fair, Last year numerous women were stopped from attending screenings in Cannes, because of their choice of footwear. One actress was reportedly turned away for wearing ankle boots and tights, and another was physically pushed away for wearing platform sandals by the security.
