With his movie Balakrishna is paying tribute to his father:

Gautamiputra Satakarni holds a very special place his heart as the movie marks a significant milestone in Balayya’s career. In an interview, with a daily the veteran actor shared that his father, legendary actor and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao, was supposed to play the Satvahana king in his time. Sadly, the movie could never take off due to several political reasons. Now, Balayya will be seen playing the part originally meant for his father, and this will be his way of paying tribute to his late father.

The movie was grabbing headlines ever since the project was announced. Here are 7 reasons to watch the Gautamiputra Satakarni.

Balakrishna itself:

The major highlight of Gautamiputra Satakarni is none other than Balakrishna, who has a huge fan following among the Telugu audience. Keeping that in mind the filmmakers launched an event called Satvahana Pathakotsavam, where Balakrishna and his fans hoisted the Satvahana flag in hundred theatres all across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. However, this movie calls for special celebrations because it marks the actor’s 100th film.

The film traders and experts have already predicted that Gautamiputra Satakarnimight will turn out to be another blockbuster for the star, who has already delivered several hit movies in his career spanning 42 years.

Star power

Veteran actress Hema Malini, who is a very prominent actress in Bollywood is playing a crucial role in the movie. She is playing the role of Rajamata (Gautami Balashri), the mother of the king. Tollywood actress Shriya Saran will be playing the female lead which is the role of Vashishtha Devi. The movie also has Kabir Bedi, Shiva Rajkumar and Tanikella Bharani.

Grand sets:

The movie has larger than life castles, epic war scenes on land and water, Gautamiputra Satakarni holds true to a historic beauty that very few movies have been able to achieve. The movie has managed to match the grandeur and perfection of the SS Rajamouli epic movie Baahubali.

Superb costumes:

The filmmakers have done its homework and have nailed the costumes, armour and ornaments which are believed to be relevant to that period.
The team did not have much room for experimentation as the movie is based on a real historical event.

Storyline

The epic historical movie builds on the life of 2nd century AD ruler Gautamiputra Satakarni of Satavahana empire, at present, we name it as Deccan region. The story throws light on the history of Telugu people.

National award winning director:

Krish, who directed the movie, is known as one of the most promising and innovative filmmakers in Telugu cinema. His war drama Kanche won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu in 2015. So we all can expect the director to work his magic once again with Gautamiputra Satakarni.

VFX effects and cinematography:

The movie has following in the footsteps with oodles of visual and graphic effects. The VFX was particularly impressive. The movie will truly take you back to the Satavanaha Dynasty. Right from the kingdom to the war scenes, to Nandamuri and Shriya Saran romantic scenes, the film’s visuals are a treat! The climax scenes of this movie will be grand as it comprises 1000 junior artists, 300 horses and 20 chariots. Wow!

The film has found a fan in Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu, who has joined the chorus to sing praises of the historical drama.

Impressed with director Krish’s latest venture, the CM took to Twitter to congratulate the team and praise their efforts saying, "Congrats to @DirKrish, Balakrishna garu, @shriya1109 & the crew of #GautamiPutraSatakarni for bringing the history of #Amaravati alive.
