Bollywood director to make Malayalam film starring Mohanlal

Mohanlal is riding high on the success of his films as they rocked the box office continuously. Since last year his movies like Oppam, Pulimurugan, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, 1971: Beyond Borders, and Velipadinte Pusthakam have all done well at the box office.

Mohanlal is now quite busy with his upcoming movie 'Villain', which will release this year and another most-anticipated film 'Odiyan' , which will hit the theatres early next year.

On October 3, Mohanlal gave a pleasant surprise to his fans by announcing his next project. He shared the news on his Facebook page saying, "“Here's announcing my next project to be shot soon after Odiyan. The Movie is yet to be titled and Direction by Ajoy Varma and scripted by Saju Thomas. This would be under the banner of Moonshot Entertainment, produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikadan." (SIC)

The actor has signed a deal to work with a Bollywood director Ajoy Varma, who is all set to make his debut in the Malayalam film industry. 

According to reports, the movie will go on to the floors as soon as Mohanlal is done with 'Odiyan'. In an interview to the Time of India, director Ajoy Varma had said, "It's a drama-thriller. Mumbai, Pune and Sri Lanka will be the locations for the movie which will be shot this December and January."

He also said, “Once we finished scripting the movie, we met Lal sir and he liked the script. We are now finalising a few more details before we can reveal more about his character or the rest of the cast.” 

Ajoy Varma has previously directed S.R.K. He started his career in the film industry as a film editor. 

Ajoy also assists Ram Gopal Varma, John Matthew Mathan and Rajiv Anchal.
