Bantwal: Another murder has been reported from coastal Karnataka on Friday, October 23 just a couple of days after the murder of actor Surendra Bantwal.

Rowdy sheeter Umar Farooq was hacked to death by a gang in Melkar with machetes. Farooq who was also known as Chenne Farooq had several cases pending against him in Bantwal police station.

Farooq was on his way to Melkar from Kalladka on his bike when the gang attacked him.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Farooq died on the way to the hospital.

As per sources close to Farooq, it is suspected that he may have been murdered following personal enmity. Meanwhile, locals believe that his friends whom he was once acquainted to may have killed him.

It is said that another rowdy-sheeter residing in Kalladka was friends with Farooq before hostility grew between the two.

Earlier, rowdy sheeter and actor Surendra Bantwal on October 21 was also murdered at his residence.

The back to back murders has raised concerns in the police establishment about the growing brazenness of the underworld.
