IPL 2021: CSK to begin training in Dubai from Thursday, Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi from Friday
The preparations for the 2021 Indian Premier League resumption in the UAE are underway, with CSK and Mumbai Indians to begin training in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from Thursday and Friday, respectively.
The hype is being created once again, as the Indian Premier League 2021 is all set to resume from the upcoming month in the United Arab Emirates. While some franchises have reached the gulf, the preparations for the same are underway in full swing.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings is set to get its training session underway from Thursday at the ICC Academy in Dubai. On the other hand, defending champion Mumbai Indians would begin its sessions from Friday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking to Newsable, a source said, "We have just completed our six-day mandatory quarantine today and were able to come out of our rooms. Mumbai Indians begin training from tomorrow evening."
"Delhi Capitals arrive on 21st (Saturday) and would enter the six-day quarantine upon arrival. Kolkata Knight Riders arrives on the 27th, followed by Rajasthan Royals on 29th, Punjab Kings on 30th and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 1st (September). No clarity on when Royal Challengers Bangalore arrives."
Considering the members from Mumbai Indians, the duo of Hardik and Krunal Pandya have already reached Abu Dhabi and are having a good time. While Krunal's wife Pankhuri Sharma has also joined him in Abu Dhabi, Hardik's Bollywood wife Natasa Stankovic is expected to join him during the first week of September. She would be directly flying in from Serbia along with their son Agastya.
Considering the hotels where the teams would be staying, the source said, "MI and KKR would be retaining their hotels in Abu Dhabi from the last season. The remaining six teams would be moving to new hotels in Dubai. While PBKS was staying in Sofitel last season, it has changed it this season, while DC would be staying in the same this season."
Meanwhile, the remaining international players from India, England and South Africa would join after their international commitments. Furthermore, the source also reported that the hotel rents and costs have increased by 15%. Nevertheless, since the duration of this time would be less, it won't be much of a headache.
The IPL 2021 restarts from September 19, with the opening game between CSK and MI in Dubai. The tournament was suspended in May after four sides had their bubbles breached in India by COVID.
