Things are shaping ahead of the Indian Premier League 2021 resumption in the United Arab Emirates from September. Although there are still uncertainties surrounding the participation of a few players, Delhi Capitals looks set to earn a significant boost.

Star Australian batsman Steven Smith looks set to take part in the UAE leg of the tournament after recovering from an elbow injury. While the damage had ruled him out of the Windies and Bangladesh tours, as per cricket.com.au, he is recovering well. The report adds that he practised batting in the nets for New South Wales for over an hour.

Speaking on Smith's recovery, Aussie limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch said that Smith is slowly increasing the intensity of his batting practice at the nets with each passing day. He asserts that Smith is making sure that he does not overdo the practice session, thus disturbing his recovery process. He also said that Smith has been giving really positive feedback on his recovery, as it would be crucial for DC in the IPL and for Australia in the ICC World T20 to be played in October in the gulf itself.

Meanwhile, Finch, too, is recovering from his left knee surgery and expressed confidence in gaining full fitness before the WT20. While it would limit his practice sessions, judging by his age and being around the team a lot would help him. As for his surgery, it went perfect, while he has begun to walk with no pain.
