While the main Indian squad is in England, preparing for its Test campaign, a second-string side would travel to Sri Lanka next month for a limited-overs campaign. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced a 20-man squad for the tour on Thursday.

Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan would be leading the side in both formats. It would mark Dhawan's debut as the Indian skipper. In the meantime, seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been appointed as Dhawan's deputy (vice-captain).

The squad also has five debutants: Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana, Krishnappa Gowtham and Chetan Sakariya. Meanwhile, Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore and Simarjeet Singh have been roped in as the net bowlers and could also act as injury replacements.

As for the support staff, BCCI did not announce it. However, ESPNCricinfo confirms that National Cricket Academy head coach Rahul Dravid would be coaching the side in the island nation.
