Kohli's century in this landmark encounter made the occasion truly memorable. Moreover, his century in the 500th international match propelled him to surpass the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's world record of 75 international centuries in the first 500 matches.
What makes Kohli's century even more special is that he became the first-ever player to achieve this feat in his 500th international match. His tally of 12 centuries against the West Indies also places him in joint second position, just one century behind Sunil Gavaskar's record of 13. Jacques Kallis of South Africa also shares the mark of 12 centuries against the West Indies.
On Day 1 of the second Test, Kohli played a crucial role as India collected 106 runs in the final session without losing a wicket. Alongside Ravindra Jadeja, Kohli displayed his impeccable strokeplay and showcased his trademark cover drive off Kemar Roach's delivery.
