Vijayawada: On Sunday, Andhra Pradesh chief minister announced that free masks would be distributed to 5.3 crore people of the state due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to curb coronavirus spread. Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the authorities to  distribute three masks to each person in the state as early as possible for safety purposes.

He also conducted a review meeting on COVID-19 at the CM camp office at Tadepalli.

According to reports, a survey of 1.43 crore families revealed that out of a total of 1.47 crore, COVID-19 tests would be conducted to 45,000 persons in affected zones.

During the survey, 32,349 people were referred to a medical examination by the field staff. Doctors were asked to carry out tests on 9,107 among them. However, a cautious Reddy has ordered officials to conduct tests on all 32,349 members.

According to latest reports, 46 new coronavirus cases were reported as of 8 am on April 13 in Andhra Pradesh, according to data released by the ministry of health and family welfare. This brings the total reported cases of coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh to 427. Among the total people infected as on date, 11 have recovered and 7 have passed away.
