Volkswagen has introduced its new all-electric SUV, the ID.7, the world's first electric vehicle in the upper mid-size class. The car has a range of up to 700 km (WLTP), a better powertrain, a large cabin, and premium technology, making it a pleasant alternative for long-distance travel.

The ID.7 will make its debut in Europe and China this year, followed by North America in 2024. The vehicle is about five metres long, with an improved customer-focused operational philosophy and a high-quality aesthetic.

The ID.7 sets new efficiency standards on the basis of the modular electric drive matrix (MEB).  It has an aerodynamic design and a drag coefficient of around 0.23 (depending on the vehicle's equipment). The vehicle's large wheelbase and small overhangs provide substantial interior room, comfortably seating all passengers.

It also has cutting-edge innovations like as a 15-inch infotainment screen, an augmented reality head-up display, and an innovative air conditioning operating system. It also has an adaptable seat Climatronic, a massage function with AGR certification, and a Harman Kardon 700-watt sound system with 14 high-end loudspeakers. The new panoramic sunroof with smart glass is controllable by touch as well as voice commands via the new IDA voice assistant, and it has electrically dimmable settings.

Volkswagen will sell the ID.7 in two different trim levels: Pro and Pro S. Both are propelled by an electric motor capable of producing 282 horsepower. The Pro has an 82.0 kWh battery pack that claims to provide up to 615 miles of range on a single charge. It also supports 170 kW DC rapid charging. The Pro S includes a larger 91.0 kWh battery pack, which provides a range of 700 km. It offers up to 200 kW of DC rapid charging.

The electric vehicle has a remarkably efficient drive generation, featuring a powerfully robust electric drive motor with 284 bhp. The ID.7 is one of 10 new electric cars that Volkswagen plans to debut by 2026. It will be manufactured in Emden, Germany, for the European and North American markets, with comparable ID.7 versions made locally in China.
