AP shocker: Woman gangraped, boyfriend assaulted near Mallavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple

- The miscreants brutally assaulted her boyfriend and forcibly dragged into the woods.
FollowA woman was gangraped while her boyfriend was brutally assaulted by three unidentified men near Mallavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
The assault reportedly took place on Sunday evening. The couple had gone to Mallavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple. The two were then accosted by three men near the Gundlakamma Reservoir.
According to the police, the woman, who is a resident of Ongole went to Mallavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple along with her boyfriend who is a resident of Kolachanakota. The couple were walking into the Mango grove behind the temple when three young men attacked them. The men beat the boyfriend and dragged the woman to the grove where they allegedly raped her.
The injured boyfriend then dragged himself on to the highway, where he sought the help of some youth from Mallavaram village. The group then went in search of the woman. However, after an hour-long search, the woman walked out of the grove crying and narrated her ordeal.
This is, however, not the first time such an incident happened near the Mallavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple. According to local residents, in the past also couples have been targeted by miscreants and there have been incidents of women being sexually assaulted. However, in most cases, the victims out of shame and fear never reported the incident.
