Congress leader has alleged that only 6 percent of work on Polavaram project initiated by YSRC has been completed so far Whereas Pattiseema project of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu was completed in one year Naidu's TDP is trying to discontinue the Polavaram project

Polavaram vs Pattiseema project has been in the news since the day Pattiseema project was announced by the current TDP government. An open discussion about the Pattiseema project between TDP MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary and ex-MP Undavalli Aruna Kumar from Congress was cancelled due to the denial of permission by the Vijayawada police. But the war of words continue through the media.

Aruna Kumar has alleged that only 6 percent of the tunnel work on Polavaram lift irrigation project has been completed so far. The project was initiated by YS Rajasekhara Reddy and is being neglected by the TDP.

However, the Pattiseema river linking project initiated by the TDP itself has been completed within a record time of one year.

However, Aruna Kumar made fun of the TDP and its chief and CM of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu for dedicating the Pattiseema project to the nation one year ago, when even motors, for the projects were not brought.

In another accusation, Aruna Kumar stated that Pattiseema and Purashottamapatnam projects were taken up to discontinue Polavaram Project initiated by Congress Party for the sake of money. Dedicating a project to the nation without its completion is a joke on Chandrababu Naidu, he said referring to Pattiseema project.

He said that he was ready for an open discussion on the Jalayagnam scam and stated the same had been challenged to Yerram Naidu in the Parliament of his willingness to come for discussion on the book ‘King of Corruption’. He reminded that YS Rajasekhar Reddy provided water for 14 lakh acres of land.

The Central Irrigation Minister in 2016 August had said that 4.21 TMC water was provided through Pattiseema, but the local minsters claim it to be 8 TMC.

When only 6 percent of the Polavaram Tunnel is completed, how is it possible to supply water through Polavaram by 2018? It looks like Arun Kumar was hinting that the TDP wants to shun Polavaram and Purashottamapatnam projects by showing the effectiveness his pet work Pattiseema project. But in reality, work has been halted for the Polavaram and Purashottamapatnam projects.

Polavaram Project is a multi-purpose irrigation project which has been accorded national project status by the union government. This dam across the Godavari River is under construction located in West Godavari District and East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh state, and its reservoir spreads in parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha States also.

Whereas, the Patttiseema Godavari-Krishna river linking project is the ambitious project of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and has made it to the Limca Book of Records for completion of the project in a record time of one year. The project has one of the largest pump houses in Asia with 24 pumping units spread across an area of 7,476 sq m.
