Wherever Nara Lokesh is touring in the state, DWCRA women were pestering him for the release of loans. The seriousness of the issue and its negative effect on Nandyal elections was brought to the notice of AP CM, who then released 676 crores on Thursday night to appease the DWCRA groups.

In the recent YCP plenary session, YS Jagan announced a scheme called ‘YSR Asara’ especially for the DWCRA groups. There was a big discussion in the government regarding this scheme. The Rs 15000 crores promised to the DWCRA groups by YCP was being criticised by the ruling party. At the same time, they explained to the CM, the dissatisfaction among the DWCRA women on the government’s inaction. So the CM had to immediately sanction Rs 676 crores of rupees for outstanding payments for the year 2015-2016.

After the TDP came into power, they did not waive the DWCRA loans. So the interest to the loans till that date was not paid. As a result, the loans and outstanding payments have increased and the banks have announced lakhs of DWCRA women as defaulters. The amount to be paid by the women was Rs 1500 crores and now just Rs 676 crores have been sanctioned. There are still Rs 824 crores outstanding payments.

When Chandrababu became the CM, the outstanding payment of DWCRA groups was Rs 14,000 crores. The groups have stopped paying interest from the time of waiving off loans was announced. So the interest to be paid is Rs 1400 crores and the total amount to be paid is Rs 15,400 crores. The government paid Rs 7500 crores to the banks in the last three years for payment of DWCRA loans. There are still Rs 7900 crores remaining. The payments being made now is for the year 2015-2016. It is still 2016-17 and 2017-18.
