Hundreds of projects worth crores in Andhra never left planning stage

Senior YSRCP leader and MP V Vijaya Sai Reddy claims that he has exposed the “bogus” claims of development by the ruling TDP government.

Reddy, who recently raised questions at the centre regarding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said he was shocked to receive the reply.

In 2016 and 2017, the Chandrababu government organised several grand summits, promising to bring crores worth of developmental projects to the state.

The first AP Partnership Summit was held from January December 10, 2016 at Visakhapatnam and the second Sunrise Partnership Summit was held on 27-28 January 2017 in Visakhapatnam.

Chandrababu proudly stated that MoUs worth Rs 15.33-lakh-crores were signed in the two summits. If all those were achieved, almost 1629 projects would have been implemented. Had even one-third of the projects come to fruition, it would lead to many industries and vast income to the state.

But according to the Assistant Minister of Central Finance Department Arjun Ram Meghwal, many of the agreements did not even reach the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage.

In the 2016 summit, AP government signed 331 MoUs worth Rs 4,78,788 crores. However 99 MoUs worth Rs 2,83,943 did not reach the DPR stage while 6 MoUs were rejected by the government. In 2017, 665 MoUs worth Rs 10.54 lakh crores were signed and out of those 335 MoUs worth Rs 6.34 lakh crores do not have DPRs and the government cancelled 12 MoUs worth Rs 1.75 lakh crores.
