Guzzlers drink upto Rs 200 cr worth liquor in 4 days alone

Though the Supreme Court has prohibited opening of bars on National and State highways and the women from Vijayawada to Nellore are making a hue and cry not to open bars near homes, Andhra men are the least bothered. Most of them have been seen frequenting belt shops.

Most of the liquor shops were closed due to renewal of licences. Even then Andhra people broke all records. However, as soon as a GO was passed on Tuesday changing State Highways to normal roads, within minutes many shops opened in the cities. Liquor-thirsty men queued up in front of them and bought everything.

Only on one single day of July 4, Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation brought out a stock worth Rs 58.82 crore. The corporation themselves confessed that they were stunned by this.

The officials said that the reason for the increase in sales is due to the widespread opening of belt shops in every place. This shows that as belt shops increase, supply will increase, sales will increase, cheers will increase and income will increase.

The department didn’t open the new stock during the last three days of June because of Supreme Court orders. Sales started again on July 1st. 15 percent of shops received their licences and opened the shops on that day. These shops brought Rs 18 crore worth of stock. On July 2, Rs 56.97 crore worth of liquor was bought. On July 3, this increased a lot more. They bought Rs 75.01 crore worth of liquor.
