Did Chandrababu Naidu force Metro Man E Sreedharan to tender resignation

E Sreedharan has been working as advisor to the Andhra Pradesh government on the Metro rail projects in the state. He was invited by the Chief Minister of AP, Chandrababu Naidu, to step on board the Metro rail project.

However, according to a report in the New Indian Express, a couple of differences between Sreedharan and the AP government in the functioning and planning of the metro, may have caused this rift. The Amaravati Metro project in particular and the awarding of the tender to contractor Larsen and Tubro by the CM may have had a huge role to play in this resignation.  Among other causes, Naidu’s decision to discard the metro rail project and switch over to Light Metro Rail could also have been a trigger. He had advised the CM as the LMR not being a viable project and despite that the CM has gone ahead and this may have miffed the Metro Man.

The 85-year-old tendered his resignation to the CMO but no official approval or rejection of the same has been sent from the government as of now. Sreedharan, who is also known as the Metro Man and he had been studying the Vijaywada metro rail project meticulously and to see his ideas and sugeestions being thwarted like this could have been the main cause of dissatisfaction.

The report also mentions other instances like being ignored by the CM, not securing the CM’s audience even after a month of trying to do so.
