Daggubati Purandeswari responds on Polavaram Project

Former Union Minister and Senior BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Daggupati Purandeswari expressed her opinion that Andhra Pradesh should respond positively with the Centre regarding Polavaram Project and avoid to divided talk in the state.

Addressing the media in Vijayawada, she reiterated the fact that the Centre stands firm on its decision to complete the Project on time. After meeting with the Central Minister Nitin Gadkari and Water Resources Special Secretary Amarjeet Singh, she realised the state of miscommunication between the Centre and the State.

She stated that opening separate accounts to the companies working on the project and clearing their bills would be more feasible for the speed of work. She said BJP never stated that it is against building copper dam but that it would take a decision after the report of technical professionals. She said some projects were constructed without copper dams.

BJP leaders are firm on not changing the contractor and they are ready to release monies if the AP government submits the utilisations certificates. Purandeswari also requested the Centre to consider re-estimate of the project cost of Rs 58,000 crores against the approved expenditure of Rs. 16,000 crores. She also requested the government to see to the completion of the project at whatever cost.
