East Godavari district MLA Jyothula Nehru kept receiving presents for his desertion of the YSR Congress Party. According to sources in the TDP, measures are being taken to make his son, Jyothula Naveen, the Chairman of the District Parishad. Naveen is the member of the Jaggampet ZPTC. Nehru who jumped from YCP to TDP would now be happy to see his son being crowned.

Nehru won elections in 2014 on YCP candidature. But he deserted his party and has joined TDP. It was generally known that Chandrababu bribed him with a ministerial post and also with the responsibility of taking care of the Kapu caste in the party. But nothing whatsoever happened. It came to be known that Nehru became disappointed and was feeling distressed for leaving the YCP. Chandrababu heard the news and promised to give his son the District parishad chairman post. Babu then busied himself in the work of making vacant the District parishad chairman post.

On Sunday, East Godavari District Parishad Chairman Ramana Rambabu (Kapu) and vice-chairman Pendyala Nalinikanth (Khamma) resigned from their posts. Rambabu was not willing to resign from the post. They met the Kakinada Collector Kartikeya Misra and submitted their resignation letters.

Rambabu joined office three years ago, but recently there was a lot of pressure on him to resign from his post. The vice-CM and Home Minister Chinarajappa belonged to the same district. He along with the District in-charge Minister Kimidi Kalavenkata Rao (both belonging to Kapu caste) pleaded with Rambabu to resign for the sake of the party. But Rambabu was adamant. Chandrababu angered by this, warned him to resign in the recent Visakha Mahanadu. The result was the resignation on Sunday. However, he was given the post of District TDP Chairman.

Then why did Pendyal Nalinikanth resign from his Vice-Chairman post?

This was also done for Jyothula Nehru as the talk goes. If the Chairman resigns from the post, then the vice-chairman (Khamma) would be eligible for the post. The Khamma caste people would start pressurising them. To avoid that problem, Nalinikanth was also asked to resign. This would make it easier to fulfil the promise given to Nehru regarding his son.
