Since bifurcation, Andhra has been celebrating Independence Day every year at a new venue First it was held at Kurnool, the next was at Visakhapatnam and then at Anantapur This year the government will be holding celebrations Tirupati
Post bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh decided to build its capital in Amaravathi, but with the capital still under construction, the State this year will be holding the Independence Day celebrations in Tirupati.

The AP government, however, is yet to decide on a venue, following which security preparations will be held. Some reports claim that the celebrations might be held at the SUV grounds.
Since its bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh has held the Independence Day celebrations in different cities. In 2014, just two months after its bifurcation, Independence Day was celebrated in Kurnool, which was once the capital of the erstwhile Andhra State.
In 2015, the port city of Visakhapatnam became the venue and in 2016, Anantapur became the centre of celebrations since the current functional capital Vijayawada was busy with ‘Krishna Pushkaram’.
